Orania. Berlin. World-class hospitality meets neighborhood culture

The Kreuzberg neighborhood of Berlin. Home of artists, musicians and the international creative class. At the heart of it all, the Orania.Berlin. Hotel, bar, restaurant and concert venue, Orania takes a modern approach to hospitality. Guests from around the globe mingle with guests from around the corner. They’re drawn together by the warm and welcoming aesthetic, the world-class musical programming and the unmistakable spirit of openness: Open kitchen. Open fireplaces. Above all, open-mindedness. The result is a contemporary, cosmopolitan kind of luxury in which AXOR is right at home. No wonder AXOR Citterio is the Orania’s choice for the bathrooms.

The Orania is set in a stunning 1913 building that has been lovingly restored. Managing Partner Dietmar Mueller-Elmau, of sister hotel Schloss Elmau, developed the concept and design. The Orania features a mix of subtle Asian influences, warm hues and lighting, local craftsmanship, and precious materials from around the world. The centerpiece of the ground floor space is a Steinway concert grand. Acclaimed concert pianist Julien Quentin, a longtime Kreuzberg resident, oversees the world-class program of jazz, classical and electronic music.

The 41 rooms combine a cozy atmosphere with a touch of luxury.

An elegant retreat in the heart of bustling Kreuzberg

Orania’s chef, the Michelin-starred Philipp Vogel, doubles as the hotel’s managing director. His wife, Jenny, runs front-of-house operations. The couple have played a key role in creating Orania’s authentically individual atmosphere. “Everyone who works here is allowed to be themselves, and this is something very unique in the luxury hotel sector,” says Philipp. “Our team members all love this place,” adds Jenny, “and guests can pick up on that. Kreuzberg is the melting pot of Berlin, and I think we’re the melting pot of Kreuzberg.”

All 41 rooms feature AXOR Citterio faucets, bath fixtures and shower controls. Understated, elegant and individual, the collection is the perfect fit for the Orania’s cosmopolitan aesthetic. “They're very high-quality, which is essential for a hotel like this,” says Philipp. “They’re beautiful,” adds Jenny, “and lots of people who stay here come and say, ‘Oh, I want to have this in my home, as well.’ Or they say they already have it, which is nice because it makes them feel at home when staying with us.”
