Philippe Starck may be the world’s most celebrated and influential designer. From juice-squeezers to electric bikes, personal windmills to pre-fab ecological houses, hotel interiors to space habitation modules, his work is guided by a vision of creation as the duty—expressive, political, rebellious, benevolent, pragmatic and subversive—to make life better for the largest number of people possible.

A pioneer of the bathroom

In 1994, the Salon d’Eau concept by Philippe Starck sparked a revolution. AXOR Starck, the brand’s first complete collection, defined what we now consider the modern residential bathroom.

It is now recognized as a watershed moment in defeing the modern residential bathroom, AXOR Starck the first complete bathroom collection from AXOR. Groundbreaking at the time and now a classic, the joystick handle is joined by other innovations to enrich bathroom design: the shower column and the bar hand shower, both creations in the spirit of the elegance found within the minimum.

Philippe Starck. Born in Paris in 1949. Son of a French aeronautical engineer and inventor. He studied interior architecture and design at the École Nissim de Camondo, Paris. In 1976 he founded the company “Starck Product”. Designing the private rooms of François Mitterrand at the Élysée Palace made him famous. The Café Costes in Paris made him an international star. In 1995, he created a new category with the Delano boutique hotel in Miami: designer hotels. He has long been successful in international residential projects: Under the name Yoo, Philippe Starck creates outstanding apartments at unique locations all over the world.
