Philippe Grohe receives the Interior Innovation Award 2015 in Cologne for the second time in a row
January 2015. Highest accolade: at the international furniture fair imm cologne, Axor won one of the world's most prestigious design awards for the interior design sector – the Interior Innovation Award – "Best of Best" 2015, for the third time. Philippe Grohe, Vice President of Design Management at Hansgrohe SE, accepted the coveted award for the revolutionary Axor Starck V well mixer at the official opening ceremony of the trade fair. The basin mixer, which was developed in collaboration with Philippe Starck, was the only sanitary fitting out of the 15 products to win an award. The mixer, which features a transparent glass spout, reveals a captivating vortex when it is used – creating an intensive experience of water at the wash basin.
“Axor Starck V is the result of successfully combining the ultimate in water and product design expertise with decades of experience in bathroom design”, said Philippe Grohe, Vice President of Design Management at Hansgrohe SE. “In presenting us with the Interior Innovation Award – 'Best of Best', the judges have acknowledged our innovative strength as well as the quality of our design process.”
Organic design and the aesthetics of transparency
The unobtrusive presence of the organic, transparent design adds special emphasis to any bathroom setting. The transparency of the mixer acts as a technical and aesthetic component: it makes the water visible, and allows the mixer body to blend in with its surroundings. The open spout of the mixer adds to the unique water experience, creating an emotional bond between user and water.
Using technology and innovation to bring water to life
With the beauty and dynamism of its vortex, the Axor Starck V well mixer bridges the gap between the functional and emotional aspects of water at the washbasin, transforming a basic commodity into a valuable resource. True to the Hansgrohe principle of developing aesthetic, functional and sustainable products, the well mixer features multiple technological innovations. For example, the spout of the mixer is made of organic crystal glass, an exceptionally durable material. The mixer also features a reduced flow rate of 4l/minute – without compromising the user experience in any way. The rotatable, open and detachable spout offers added convenience: it is easy to install and can be cleaned in the dishwasher if required.
The Interior Innovation Award was set up in 2002 by imm cologne and the German Design Council. It remains one of the most important design awards in the interior design sector, and it is given in recognition of the most innovative achievements in all product categories. The imm cologne sponsors the competition, which is organised by the German Design Council.
